Indianapolis, Ind. – Northern Kentucky University’s Chris Thompson (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men’s Soccer Player of the Week. The freshman forward helped the Norse capture three GLVC matches last week.
Thompson posted a shot in Northern Kentucky’s 5-1 win over visiting Bellarmine University on Sept. 26 and also had one in the Norse’s 1-0 victory over No. 24 University of Wisconsin-Parkside on Sept. 29.
His top effort of the week came in Northern Kentucky’s 2-1 overtime win at No. 15 Lewis University on Oct. 1. Against the Flyers, Thompson scored both of his team’s goals.
He posted the first goal of the contest at the 5:24 mark of the first half on an assist from teammate Chad Cook. Thompson collected the game-winner 3:30 into overtime. The unassisted goal was his fourth on the year and third game-winner.
Thompson is second on the team with four goals and eight points this season. He is leading the Norse with three game-winning goals.
Northern Kentucky moved into second place in the GLVC standings with the wins and now sits at 9-2-1 overall and 6-2-1 in the GLVC.
