University of Wisconsin-Parkside senior Armando Torres and Truman State University senior Michaela Hylen have been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Runners of the Week in men’s and women’s cross country, respectively, it was announced by the Conference office on Tuesday.
In addition, Torres was honored Monday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) as the NCAA Division II Men's National Athlete of the Week.

- Named USTFCCCA NCAA Division II Men’s National Athlete of the Week Monday
- Claimed first place with a winning 8K time of 25 minutes, 04.30 seconds
- Finished 10 seconds ahead of nearest competitor and 50 seconds ahead of closest DII finisher.
- Time marked the fastest performance since 2013 at the meet, previously known as Midwest Classic
- Garnered first victory on home course after four top-three performances
- Earns his second GLVC Runner of the Week award (9/27/16)
