Northern Kentucky University’s Harrison Morton (Lexington, Ky.) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week. Morton, a senior forward for the Norse, helped his club collect two road wins in GLVC action last week.
In Northern Kentucky’s 67-66 win at Bellarmine on Tuesday, Morton poured in 23 points including the game-winner.
With his team trailing 66-65, Morton drove the length of the court in the closing seconds and a hit the game-winning shot with 3.2 seconds to play. In addition, he added six rebounds, three assists, three blocked shots and two steals and canned 11-of-14 (.786) field goal attempts.
Morton posted 22 points and six rebounds in Northern Kentucky’s 78-63 win at No. 22 Kentucky Wesleyan on Thursday. He was 6-for-10 (.600) from the field and earned 13 trips to the free throw line where he converted nine points.
For the week, Morton averaged 22.5 points and six rebounds per game. He shot 70.8 percent from the field and was 9-for-14 (.643) from the free throw line.
Morton is leading the Norse this season with 13.2 points per game. He is also posting 4.0 rebounds per game and shooting 57 percent from the field.
Northern Kentucky (19-5) moved into a first-place tie with Kentucky Wesleyan in the GLVC East Division with the wins. The Norse, who have won three straight games, are 13-4 in league action. They finish the regular season at UW-Parkside and Lewis this week.
