Southern Illinois University Edwardsville’s Kaitlin Colosimo (Orland Park, Ill.) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week.
Colosimo, a junior for the Cougars, led her club to a 3-0 win over 15th-ranked Valdosta State on Saturday. She earned the shutout by fanning six in seven innings of work. Colosimo allowed just two hits and one walk to record the complete game.
She returned on Saturday to pitch six innings in the Cougars’ 4-1 loss to 14th-ranked Alabama-Huntsville. Colosimo surrendered three earned runs and six hits in the defeat.
In the two games, Colosimo logged 13 innings of work, struck out nine and allowed eight hits. She held her opponents to a .174 batting average and walked just one.
She is now 3-1 on the season with a 1.12 earned run average and 21 strikeouts in 25 innings pitched.
The top-ranked Cougars finished the road trip 2-2. They are now 6-2 overall and will next host the Cougar Classic this weekend.
