Indianapolis, Ind. – The University of Missouri-Rolla’s Andy Held (Alton, Ill./Alton) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men’s Soccer Player of the Week. The sophomore forward helped his team collect a pair of conference wins and has assisted in placing the Miners squarely in the postseason hunt.
Held recorded the game-winning goal in Missouri-Rolla’s 3-1 win over the University of Missouri-St. Louis on Oct. 4. He posted the match’s second goal in the 40th minute securing the key win for the Miners.
In Missouri-Rolla’s 4-1 win over Kentucky Wesleyan on Oct. 6, Held registered the school’s first hat-trick in the last five seasons. He collected the first three goals of the match and recorded his second consecutive game-winning goal.
Held scored two goals in the first half, at the 5:27 mark and at the 17:12 mark. He finished the day with a goal in the 65th minute.
Missouri-Rolla closed out the week with a 2-2 double overtime tie against Southern Indiana. Held had three shots in the contest.
The Miners are now 7-7-1 overall and 5-4-1 in the GLVC. They will return to action against visiting Southern Illinois University Edwardsville on Oct. 11.
