Drury University’s Justin Skinner (Springfield, Mo.) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Baseball Player of the Week.
Skinner, a senior second baseman for the Panthers, guided his club to a 4-1 record last week, including a thrilling extra-inning victory over Washburn on Saturday.
He finished the week with a .400 batting average, eight runs, six RBIs, two home runs, a double, triple, three stolen bases and three walks. Skinner also posted at least one hit in each of the five contests.
His biggest outing came in the Panthers’ 12-11 win over Washburn in the second game of Saturday’s doubleheader. He went 4-for-6 (.667) at the plate, scored five runs and had four RBIs. Skinner hit two home runs in the win, including the game-winning blast in the 12th inning.
Skinner is hitting .337 in 11 games this season for the Panthers. He has a slugging percentage of .690 and has tallied 14 runs and nine RBIs.
Drury is 7-4 overall this year and has won five of its last six games. The Panthers are next scheduled to host fifth-ranked Grand Valley State on Wednesday.
