Saint Joseph’s College’s Chase Sonen (Cary, Ill.) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week.
Sonen, a junior pitcher for the Pumas, posted a nice outing in Saint Joseph’s 8-2 win over regional-foe Ashland on Thursday.
He recorded the win by going five strong innings and not allowing a run. Sonen struck out three and walked just two, while allowing just two hits on the day.
The right-hander has gone 12 straight innings without allowing a run and allowed just one runner to reach second base in the victory over Ashland.
Saint Joseph’s has won seven straight games and is now 7-2 overall. The Pumas will next host Kentucky State in a doubleheader on Tuesday.
Other top performers in GLVC last week included Southern Indiana’s Shaun Larsen and SIU Edwardsville’s David Scott.
