Southern Illinois University Edwardsville’s Josh Street (Defiance, Mo.) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week.
Street, a junior infielder for SIUE, was instrumental in three Cougar wins last week, including a 27-6 rout of Maryville (N.D.) on Friday.
He was 6-for-10 (.600) at the plate in the three wins and recorded at least two hits in each contest. In the win over Maryville, Street doubled, homered and walked in the first inning as the Cougars set a school-record with 19 runs in the decisive frame.
Street was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs in SIUE’s 10-3 win over Mary on Saturday and returned in Sunday’s 6-4 win over Madonna to go 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.
On the week, Street tallied six RBIs, six runs, three doubles and a home run. He is hitting .423 on the year with 13 RBIs, eight runs and five doubles.
SIUE moved to 4-3 with the victories and is facing Minnesota State and Bemidji State today.
Other top performers in GLVC last week included Missouri S&T’s Eaf Redden, Missouri-st. Louis’ Cole Williams, Rockhurst’s Jordan Myers and Saint Joseph’s Matt Wille.
