INDIANAPOLIS – Quincy University’s Joe Palumbo (St. Louis, Mo.) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week.

  

Palumbo, a junior right fielder for the Hawks, helped Quincy go 5-1 last week. He hit .636 in the six games and drove in eight runs.

 

In Quincy’s doubleheader sweep of Northern Kentucky on Monday, Palumbo was 4-for-6 with four RBIs, a double and home run.

 

He topped that effort in Wednesday’s doubleheader sweep of Lewis by going a perfect 7-for-7 at the plate with two doubles, a home run, three RBIs and four runs scored.

 

For the week, Palumbo had a slugging percentage of 1.045 and had two home runs, three doubles and five runs scored.

 

Palumbo is hitting .425 on the year with 10 RBIs, four doubles and two home runs.

 

Quincy (6-6, 1-1 GLVC) has won six of its last eight games and will return to action at Southern Indiana on Friday.

 

Other top performers in GLVC last week included Lewis' Mike Smith, Northern Kentucky’s Evan McDole, Saint Joseph’s Matt Reimer, SIU Edwardsville’s Josh Street, Southern Indiana’s Josh Huebner and UIndy’s Chris Saroff.
