The University of Southern Indiana’s Jeremy Kehrt (Plainfield, Ind.) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week.
Kehrt, a senior righthander for the Eagles, shut down visiting Quincy on Saturday afternoon, helping Southern Indiana to a 3-1 record against the Hawks in the series.
In Kehrt’s start, the Eagles took the win 16-0. He pitched six strong innings in the victory and struck out a career-best 12 hitters. Kehrt allowed just two hits in the effort.
On the year, Kehrt is 4-1 with a 3.73 earned run average. He has struck out 37 in 31.1 innings pitched this season and has limited opponents to a .242 batting average.
Southern Indiana (13-8) has won nine of its last ten games and is first in the GLVC West Division with a 6-1 record. The Eagles will host Kentucky Wesleyan in a non-conference double header on Wednesday.
