Lewis University’s Kelly Dianis (Hinsdale, Ill.) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Softball Player of the Week.

 

Dianis, a junior shortstop for the Flyers, helped Lewis run their winning streak to nine straight games.

 

She went 7-for-11 (.636) as the Flyers swept a pair of doubleheaders at Bellarmine and Northern Kentucky over the weekend.

 

Dianis, on the week, posted seven RBIs, had two doubles and hit her 17th career home run which moves her within two of the Lewis career record.

 

She was 3-for-5 with three RBIs in Lewis’ 10-2 and 5-0 wins over Bellarmine on Friday. Dianis returned to go 4-for-6 with four RBIs and two doubles in the 9-1, 10-0 doubleheader sweep at Northern Kentucky on Saturday.

 

Dianis is hitting .439 on the year with 17 RBIs, seven runs scored and four doubles.

 

Lewis (18-8, 6-0 GLVC) has scored 34 runs in its last 22 innings and has gone 17-2 since opening the season 1-6. The Flyers will head to the Winona State Tournament this weekend.

  

Other top performers in the GLVC last week included Bellarmine’s Kim Locke, Drury’s Casey Elliott, Missouri S&T’s Kelsey Musselman, Northern Kentucky’s Rose Broderick, Rockhurst’s Holly Hilton and SIU Edwardsville’s Mallory Ruggles.
