Indianapolis, Ind. – Quincy University’s Jenna Boyko (St. Charles, Mo./St. Dominic) paced the Lady Hawks in two victories over the weekend and is the Great Lakes Valley Conference women’s soccer Player of the Week. The freshman forward, in her first collegiate contests, was instrumental in securing wins for head coach Dave Musso in his first matches at the helm for Quincy.
Boyko assisted on both goals in Quincy’s 2-1 win against Mercyhurst College on Aug. 26. She fed senior midfielder Michelle Peabody (Ste. Genevieve, Mo./Ursuline Academy) for a goal in the 29th minute to boost the Lady Hawks to a 1-0 lead. Boyko also chalked up an assist on the game-winning goal scored by senior Kim Koenig (Quincy, Ill./Notre Dame) in the 68th minute.
In the Lady Hawks’ 1-0 win at the University of Findlay on Aug. 27, Boyko netted the game-winning goal in the 29th minute. She knocked home the goal off of a corner kick from Koenig.
With the wins, Quincy secured the Findlay Invitational title with a 2-0 mark. The Lady Hawks’ record is the best start for the program since a 3-0 beginning during the 1995 season.
Boyko finished the weekend with a goal and two assists having played a role in all three of the Lady Hawks’ scores. She was also selected to the 11-member Findlay Invitational All-Tournament team.
