Indianapolis, Ind. – Quincy University’s Kim Koenig (Quincy, Ill./Notre Dame) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference women’s soccer Player of the Week. The senior forward posted five goals on the week and guided the Lady Hawks to three wins.
Koenig tallied four goals in Quincy’s 12-1 win at Culver-Stockton College on Aug. 30. She buried two in the first half of play and collected two late to help the Lady Hawks breeze to a comfortable non-conference victory. Koenig also notched an assist in the contest and her goal tally ties her for the second most in a single game in school history.
She also helped the Lady Hawks secure two conference victories on the week. In Quincy’s 2-0 win at Missouri-St. Louis on Sept. 1, Koenig scored the game-winning goal in the 24th minute of play. It was her conference-best second game-winning score on the year.
The Lady Hawks completed a conference-sweep at Missouri-Rolla on Sept. 3 with a 2-0 victory.
Koenig leads the conference in both goals and points this season. She has recorded 6 goals and one assist for a total of 13 points in just five matches.
The wins pushed Quincy’s record to 2-0 in conference play. It is just the third time Quincy has jumped out to a 2-0 record in the GLVC since joining the conference in 1995. The Lady Hawks are 5-0 on the year which is the third-best start in the program’s 24-year history.
