The University of Southern Indiana’s Stephanie Schneider (Birdseye, Ind.) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week..

 

Schneider, a junior pitcher for the Eagles, was solid in the circle last week and helped USI to a 5-1 mark in conference play.

 

On the week, Schneider went 3-0 with a 0.67 earned run average, a .164 opponent batting average and nine strikeouts. In all three starts, she went the distance and collected two shutouts.

 

She struck out four and surrendered just four hits and two earned runs in the Eagles’ 3-2 win over Rockhurst on Wednesday.

 

Schneider scattered seven hits and struck out two in USI’s 2-0 win over Bellarmine on Saturday and she posted a one-hit shutout in the Eagles’ 6-0 win over Northern Kentucky on Sunday.

 

On the year, Schneider is 7-3 with a 3.78 earned run average. She has eight complete games and 40 strikeouts in 13 appearances this season.

 

USI (23-15) is tied for second-place in the GLVC standings this season with a 10-4 league record. The Eagles will host Hillsdale in their next action on Wednesday.

  

Other top performers in GLVC last week included Bellarmine’s Casey Willard, Kentucky Wesleyan’s Haleigh Ashworth, Lewis’ Courtney Lyons, Missouri-St. Louis’ Allyson DeFosset and UIndy’s Amanda Wendlinger.
