The University of Indianapolis’ Jessica Breeden (Martinsville, Ind.) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Softball Player of the Week.

Breeden, a sophomore rightfielder for the Greyhounds, paced UIndy’s offense last week and helped her team to a 5-1 record. She capped the week with a 5-for-8 effort in the Greyhounds’ sweep of 13th-ranked SIU Edwardsville on Sunday.

On the week, Breeden was 10-for-21 (.476) with 11 RBIs, five runs scored, two doubles, a triple and home run. She also added three stolen bases and had a hit in each of the Greyhounds’ six contests.

Breeden opened the week going 2-for-5 with two RBIs in UIndy’s sweep of Findlay on Wednesday. She returned in the Greyhounds’ split with Quincy on Saturday to go 3-for-8 with four RBIs.

On the year, Breeden leads the Greyhounds in batting average (.352), doubles (11) and home runs (9). With a home run against SIUE on Sunday, Breeden broke the school’s single-season home run mark which was previously eight.

UIndy (22-18) moved into sole possession of fourth-place in the GLVC standings with the recent run and is now 8-4 in league play. The Greyhounds will host Saint Joseph’s on Thursday.

Other top performers in GLVC last week included Bellarmine’s Anna Mehr, Kentucky Wesleyan’s Gabrielle Simmons, Lewis’ Kelly Dianis, Rockhurst’s Erica Stone, SIU Edwardsville’s Courtney Mall and Southern Indiana’s Sara Loete.
