Southern Illinois University Edwardsville’s Angel Royston (St. Louis, Mo.) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week

Royston, a junior sprinter for the Cougars, fell just shy of earning a NCAA Division II provisional qualifying mark in the 200-meter at the Lee Calhoun Memorial hosted by Western Illinois over the weekend.

She won the 200-meter dash at the event in a time of 25:26. In addition, Royston also won the 100-meter dash with a time of 12:12.

Royston is currently ranked first in the GLVC in both the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash this season.

SIUE will return to action at the Vanderbilt Invitational on Saturday.

Other top performers in the GLVC last week included Drury’s Kimberly Shigeno and UIndy’s Saidat Sanuth.
