Indianapolis, Ind. – Bellarmine University’s Jaime Halas (Greenville, Ind./Floyd Central) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women’s Soccer Player of the Week. The senior forward paced the Knights in conference victories over the University of Missouri-St. Louis and the University of Missouri-Rolla last week.
Halas scored the game-winning goal in Bellarmine’s 2-0 win over Missouri-St. Louis on Sept. 15. She found the net in the 29th minute of play on assists by teammates Stephanie Schwebler and Nicole Glockner.
In the Knights’ 2-1 win over visiting Missouri-Rolla on Sept. 17, Halas scored both of her team’s goals, again delivering the game-winner. She recorded the first goal in the 11th minute of the match and broke a 1-1 tie in the 87th minute with her second goal of the contest. She was assisted on both goals by teammate Lindsay Sheer.
Her second game-winner of the week was also her 34th career goal moving her into first-place on Bellarmine’s all-time list. She passed former Knights’ standout Tonya Wheeler (1996-99) who held the previous record of 33 career goals. Halas also holds the single-season goal mark at Bellarmine after scoring 12 last season.
Halas leads the Knights with six goals this year and has helped her team to a 6-2-0 overall record and 5-1-0 mark in the GLVC. She has also added two assists this season.
