Northern Kentucky University’s Dave Middendorf (Cincinnati, Ohio) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week.

Middendorf, a freshman pitcher for the Norse, helped Northern Kentucky take three of four games from visiting UW-Parkside over the weekend.

He tossed a complete-game, nine-inning gem against the Rangers in the series opener. In the 7-0 Norse win, Middendorf threw a four-hit shutout and struck out five.

The freshman kept a no-hitter through six and one-third innings before surrendering a single up the middle to UW-Parkside’s John Hasser.

Middendorf is now 5-3 on the season and leads the Norse with a 2.06 earned run average and 48 strikeouts.

Northern Kentucky (28-20) improved to 18-9 in conference play with the three wins over the weekend. The Norse will next host Southern Indiana on Wednesday in a non-conference doubleheader.

Other top performers in the GLVC last week included Bellarmine’s Derek Mattingly, SIU Edwardsville’s  David Scott, Southern Indiana’s Cory Julian and UIndy’s Mike McFadden.
