Northern Kentucky University’s Kevin Jordan (Louisville, Ky./Eastern) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week.
Jordan helped the Norse go 5-1 against a pair of nationally-ranked teams last week. Northern Kentucky swept 24th-ranked Southern Indiana in a non-conference meeting on Wednesday and took three of four games at 14th-ranked Saint Joseph’s over the weekend.
Jordan, a sophomore pitcher for the Norse, posted two solid outings against the stout competition. He tossed a complete-game in Northern Kentucky’s 4-1 win over Southern Indiana and allowed just one run on five hits, while striking out six.
He returned in Northern Kentucky’s 6-4, extra-inning victory on Sunday to allow just one hit and strike out four. Jordan was perfect through five innings, before allowing a three-run base hit in the sixth. He received a no-decision in the outing.
On the week, Jordan threw 12 1/3 innings and allowed four earned runs, just six hits and struck out 10.
He is now 3-0 on the season with a 2.98 earned run average and 38 strikeouts in 42.1 innings of work.
NKU (33-21) has won nine of its last 11 games and earned the top wild card spot for the upcoming GLVC Baseball Tournament. The Norse will face Bellarmine on Thursday, at 3 p.m. CST at GCS Ballpark in Sauget, Ill.
