The University of Indianapolis’ Ashley Seehase is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women’s Soccer Player of the Week. The junior forward led UIndy to a pair of victories, including a 2-1 overtime decision at Ohio Dominican on Sunday.
UIndy toppled Saginaw Valley State in its season-opener on Friday, 4-3. The Greyhounds were led by Seehase who played a role in each of the team’s four goals. She helped grab the Greyhounds an early lead by scoring each of her goals in the first four minutes of the contest. Seehase would add an assist on UIndy’s final two tallies in the match, including the game-winner in the 70th minute.
Seehase returned on Sunday to add a goal and an assist in the Greyhounds’ 2-1 win over Ohio Dominican. She assisted on the game-tying goal by Ali Opfer in the 77th minute and notched the game-winning score just three minutes into overtime.
For the week, Seehase amassed nine points with three goals and three assists. She scored 12 goals and had seven assists to lead the Greyhounds last season.
UIndy (2-0) will next host Ashland and Tiffin this weekend.
Other top performers in the GLVC last week included: Lewis’ Jessica Summers-Hernandez, Missouri S&T’s Melia Miller, Northern Kentucky’s Kendall Day and UW-Parkside’s Shannon Becker.
