Rockhurst University’s Tom Heinemann is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men’s Soccer Player of the Week. The junior forward was instrumental in the Hawks’ two wins over Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference foes, Colorado-Springs and Colorado St.-Pueblo.

In Rockhurst’s 4-0 win over Colorado Springs on Friday, Heinemann registered six points, playing a role in each of the Hawks’ four goals on the day. He posted the game-winner in the ninth minute off a rebound from eight yards out and scored the match’s final goal in the 89th minute. Heinemann also assisted on two insurance goals by Kyle Samuelson in the second half.

Rockhurst toppled Colorado St.-Pueblo on Sunday, 3-2, and again Heinemann found the net. Trailing 2-0 late in the first half, Heineman started the Hawks’ comeback by posting a goal off a header in the 34th minute. The goal was the first of three unanswered goals by the Hawks to fuel them to victory.

For the week, Heinemann posted three goals and two assists to finish with nine points. He finished with one game-winning goal and a .625 shot-on-goal percentage.

Rockhurst is now 2-0 with the victories. The Hawks will travel to Missouri Southern on Friday before opening the GLVC season at home against Missouri-St. Louis on Sunday.

Other top performers in the GLVC last week included: Bellarmine’s Brad Barraclough, Drury’s Steve Wilczewski, Lewis’ Armin Vreback, Missouri-St. Louis’ Colin Huber, Northern Kentucky’s Steve Beattie, Quincy’s Abe Dirnberger, Southern Indiana’s Andrew Haley and UIndy’s Jason Kreuzman.
