Bellarmine University’s Cristin Samuels has been selected as the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women’s Runner of the Week. The junior runner led the Knights to a fourth-place finish in the 11-team field at the Madison Kiwanis Invitational on Saturday.
Samuels placed 14th out of the 120 runners. She raced the 5,000-meter course in 20:24, which improved her time from last year by 20 seconds. Samuels improved from fifth runner to first runner for the Knights in one short week.
The Knights finished fourth in the team standings with 97 points and had four runners finish in the top 25.
The Knights are ranked seventh in the Midwest Regional Rankings this week following fellow conference teams Southern Indiana and UW-Parkside.
