The University of Wisconsin-Parkside’s Meredith Novak is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women’s Soccer Player of the Week. The junior midfielder played a key role in UW-Parkside’s 3-0 win over 11th-ranked Northern Kentucky on Friday.
In the victory, Novak tallied the Rangers’ first and game-winning goal to break a scoreless tie in the 72nd minute of action on an assist from Megan Haberlein.
Minutes later, Novak took advantage of a free kick, popping the ball over the NKU wall to set up Caitlin Moon’s insurance goal at the 77:40 mark of the second half.
Novak now has five goals on the season and four assists. She is tied for the team lead in each category with Shannon Becker.
The Rangers improved to 5-0-0 on the season with the victory and to 1-0-0 in the GLVC. Their contest with Indianapolis on Sunday was postponed due to inclement weather. UW-Parkside will begin a four-match road trip at Saint Joseph’s on Friday.
Other top performers in the GLVC last week included Drury’s Jessie Sanderson, Lewis’ Amy Foran, Rockhurst’s Katie Vogt, Saint Joseph’s Rachel Cobean and UIndy’s Amanda Reese.
