Lewis University’s Kathryn Hague has been selected as the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women’s Runner of the Week. The sophomore runner won the Bradley Open for the college division on Friday. Hague ran a 19:07 for the 5,000-meter, messy course and finished first among 111 runners.
Hague guided her team to a third-place finish in the 11-team field. The Flyers were three points away from second place, which was claimed by Monmouth College.
Hague was able to improve her 5,000-metere time from last year’s meet by a minute and thirty-three seconds. She did not let the messy weather and course conditions hold her back from finishing 15 seconds faster than the second-place runner.
The Flyers will be back to battle the hilly, Ferris State course at the Bulldog XC Invitational on Friday.
Other top performers in the GLVC this week include Northern Kentucky’s Janice Laker who had a ninth-place finish at the Mel Brodt Invitational.
