Lewis University’s Andy Lepkowski has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week. The sophomore pushed the pace and won the Bulldog Invitational at Ferris State on Friday. He conquered the 8,000-meter, hilly course in 25:49.
Lepkowski dominated the race and the 130 other runners, finishing 25 seconds faster than the second-place runner. His great race helped the Flyers to a fifth-place finish out of 12 teams with 125 points.
Lepkowski now has the third fastest time for the 8,000-meter distance in the GLVC this season.
The Flyers will travel north to the Roy Griak Invitational at the University of Minnesota on Saturday.
Other top performers in the GLVC this week included Pete Casa from Bellarmine, Dustin Emerick from Southern Indiana, and Geoff Hughes from Drury.
