Lewis University’s Becky Herbert has been selected as the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women’s Runner of the Week.  The senior runner placed 25th out of 257 runners, which helped guide her team to an improved 15th-place out of 24 teams.

Herbert ran a 23:50 for the hilly 6,000-meter course. This time was an impressive three minutes faster than her time in the 2007 Roy Griak Invitational.  She also moved up 170 places from last year’s competition.

The Flyers moved up ten places from last year and accumulated 431 points. Kathryn Hague led them with a time of 23:22, and Herbert was able to pace off her and have a successful individual race that ultimately helped out her team.

The Flyers will take this weekend to rest their legs from all the hills to prepare for the Border Wars on Saturday October 11.

Other top performers in the GLVC this week include Northern Kentucky’s Jenna Siemer, Drury’s Kim Shigeno, and UW-Parkside’s Heidi Ertl Adrienne Curtis, Kathryn Hague from Lewis, Tia Young from Drury, Amy Hamilton of Indianapolis, and Meghan Shegena from Bellarmine.
