Northern Kentucky University’s Kelsey Wesaw (Lansing, Mich./Lansing Christian) is the Baden/Great Lakes Valley Conference Volleyball Player of the Week. The senior right-side hitter helped the Norse collect three GLVC victories last week, including a 3-0 win over Missouri-St. Louis which was previously unbeaten in league play.

 

On the week, Wesaw posted 40 kills and a .478 hitting percentage. She averaged 3.64 kills per set and also had six digs, five assists and five blocks.

 

She opened the week on Thursday with 13 kills, three digs, two assists, a block and a .550 hitting percentage in the Norse sweep over UMSL.

 

Wesaw returned on Friday to tally 10 kills and a dig in a 3-0 win over Missouri S&T. She finished the match with a .471 hitting percentage.

 

In NKU’s 3-2 comeback victory over visiting Quincy on Saturday, Wesaw posted 17 kills, four blocks, three assists and two digs while hitting at a .438 clip.

 

On the year, Wesaw is averaging 3.35 kills per set and a .333 hitting percentage. She is also second on the team with 3.68 points per set.

 

Northern Kentucky (18-3, 18-1 GLVC) is currently ranked 25th in the country and ran its winning streak to nine matches with the three victories last week. The Norse are in sole possession of second place in the GLVC East Division standings and will visit Rockhurst and Drury this weekend.

 

Other top performers in the GLVC last week included Bellarmine’s Emily Beckman, Lewis’ Stephanie Sagat, Missouri-St. Louis’ Weslie Gaff, Rockhurst’s Emily Levy, Saint Joseph’s Sara Cramer and UIndy’s Lindsey Callahan.
