University of Wisconsin-Parkside’s Meredith Novak (Batavia, Ill./Batavia) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women’s Soccer Player of the Week. The junior forward helped the Rangers complete the school’s first undefeated regular season in any sport with convincing wins over Southern Indiana and Kentucky Wesleyan.

 

In the Rangers’ 5-0 win over Southern Indiana on Friday, Novak scored a pair of insurance goals and added an assist on Shannon Becker’s game-winning tally.

 

She also posted two goals in UW-Parkside’s 5-0 win over Kentucky Wesleyan on Sunday. Novak netted the game-winning goal in the fifth minute of the contest and also added an insurance goal in the 65th minute.

 

On the week, Novak scored four goals, including one game-winning goal, and added an assist. She now has 13 goals and seven assists this season and leads the Rangers with 33 points. Novak leads the league in points and goals this season and ranks fourth in assists.

 

UW-Parkside (13-0-2, 9-0-2 GLVC) finished the regular season atop the GLVC standings and will be the No. 1 seed for the GLVC Tournament. The Rangers open the tournament against visiting Missouri-St. Louis on Sunday.

 

Other top performers in the GLVC last week included Abby Schuhmann, Northern Kentucky’s Angela Healy, Rockhurst’s Alyssa Miller, Quincy’s Meghan Roberts and UIndy’s Amanda Reese.
