Northern Kentucky University’s Kelsey Wesaw is the Baden/Great Lakes Valley Conference Volleyball Player of the Week. The senior right-side hitter led the Norse to three conference victories last week and helped them secure the No. 2 seed for the upcoming GLVC Tournament.
In NKU’s 3-0 win over Bellarmine on Tuesday, Wesaw had six kills and a .417 hitting percentage.
She returned in Friday’s 3-0 win over UW-Parkside to post 10 kills and a .667 hitting percentage. Wesaw completed the weekend with a match-high 20 kills in NKU’s 3-2 win over 22nd-ranked Lewis on Saturday. She finished the win over the Flyers with a .405 hitting percentage.
On the week, Wesaw posted 36 kills, five blocks, three digs and three assists while hitting at a .464 clip. She is averaging 3.45 kills and 3.78 points per set this season while maintaining a .348 hitting percentage.
Northern Kentucky (27-6, 16-2 GLVC) has won four straight matches and will square off with Southern Indiana in the quarterfinal round of the GLVC Tournament on Friday in Romeoville, Ill.
Other top performers in the GLVC last week included: Lewis’ Sara deBuhr, Missouri-St. Louis’ Elizabeth Cook, Southern Indiana’s Melanie Pund, Rockhurst’s Savannah Leeper and UIndy’s Lyndsay Callahan.
