Kim PotthastIndianapolis, Ind. – Southern Illinois University Edwardsville’s Kim Potthast (Saint Rose, Ill./Breese Central) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Volleyball Player of the Week. The junior outside hitter paced the Cougars in two league wins.
 
Potthast delivered 15 kills and added four blocks in SIU Edwardsville’s 3-1 (31-29, 22-30, 30-22, 30-20) win over Drury University on Sept. 8. She posted a hitting percentage of .542 against the Panthers and also had two digs and an assist.
 
She was also instrumental in the Cougars’ 3-2 (20-30, 30-22, 22-30, 30-28, 15-11) win over No. 17 Rockhurst University on Sept. 9. Potthast contributed 14 kills, five assists and five blocks in the hard-fought win.
 
Potthast averaged 3.22 kills, one block and .67 assists per game while achieving a hitting percentage of .350. She is averaging 3.44 kills per game on the year and leads the GLVC in blocks per game (1.48).
 
SIU Edwardsville (9-2, 2-0 GLVC) has won three straight matches and will continue league-play at Kentucky Wesleyan on Sept. 12. The Cougars are currently ranked No. 23 in the CSTV/AVCA Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll.
