Rockhurst University’s Alden Smith (Jacksonville, Ark.) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week. The senior forward led the Hawks to a pair of wins this past week.

 

Smith posted a combined 35 points and 21 rebounds. Defensively, he attributed seven steals for the week. He is third in the conference for steals, averaging 2.2 per game.

 

He collected 17 points and 10 rebounds over William Jewell, 92-75.

 

With Smith’s assistance, the Hawks defeated Haskell, 95-71. He posted 18 points and 11 boards.  He is the team leader in rebounding and steals.

 

Smith was 14-of-27 from the field, three-of eleven beyond the arc, and four of eight from the line. For the week, Smith averaged 17.5 points, 10.5 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3.5 steals per game.

 

The Hawks (6-3) will be heading to Anchorage, Alaska December 20.

 

Other top performers in the GLVC last week included Bellarmine’s Chartrael Hall, Kentucky Wesleyan’s Chris Williams, Missouri S&T’s Justin Taylor, Quincy’s Justin Brock,  Southern Indiana’s Brandon Russ, Indianapolis’ Keith Radcliff, and Drury’s Chris Ijames.
