University of Wisconsin-Parkside’s LaVontay Fenderson (Racine, Wis.) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week. The senior forward led the Rangers back from a 27-point second-half deficit in UW-Parkside’s 91-88 win over visiting Indiana-Northwest on Monday.
The Rangers trailed 74-47 with 11:32 to play before rallying to claim the victory behind a 44-14 run to close the contest.
With the score tied, 88-88, Fenderson drained the game-winning three-point basket from the top of the key with 1.1 second remaining on the clock.
Fenderson, who scored 28 points in the game-winning run in the last 11 minutes of the contest, finished with a career-high 44 points on 14-of-26 (.538) shooting. He was 4-for-12 (.333) from behind the three-point line and knocked down 12-of-13 (.923) free throw attempts. In addition, he added six rebounds, two assists and three steals.
