Lewis University freshman Alan Braschinsky has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week in the sport of men’s tennis, the Conference announced Tuesday.

Braschinsky went 2-0 in both doubles and singles action over the weekend, helping the Flyers upset two nationally-ranked opponents, including a 5-4 road win past GLVC foe and No. 37 Drury on Friday as well as a 6-3 victory against 35th-ranked Newman in Sunday’s neutral-site match. The win over Drury was the first of its kind for the program since Brett Bridel took over as head coach.

Against Drury, Braschinsky paired with Mate Srdanovic to defeat the No. 4-ranked duo of Max Hepp and Kay Bartmann 8-3 at No. 1 doubles before defeating Sebastien Amato at No. 2 singles in three sets 6-4, 4-6, 7-6. Those wins were followed two days later by an 8-5 doubles win over Newman’s No. 1 pair, which was preceded by a 6-2, 6-0 besting of Max Pyle at No. 2 singles.

This is the Tallinn, Estonia, native’s first career weekly honor, and he is the first Flyer chosen since Armand Levandi was the Feb. 26, 2015 honoree.
