Drury University’s Lindsay Ballweg (Shawnee, Kan.) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week. Ballweg guided the 21st-ranked Panthers to a pair of victories over league foes last week.

 

In Drury’s 93-87 win over league-rival Quincy on Friday, Ballweg poured in 20 points and also had three assists and three rebounds. She finished the night 6-for-10 from the field, 3-for-5 from behind the three-point line and 5-for-6 at the free throw line.

 

She returned on Saturday to again post 20 points in the Panthers’ 78-63 win over visiting Lewis. She was 6-for-9 from the field, knocked down 4-of-5 three-point attempts and was perfect from the free throw line (4-4). She also contributed eight assists, four rebounds, a block and a steal in the win.

 

On the week, Ballweg averaged 20 points, 5.5 assists, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.0 block. She shot 63.2 percent from the field, 70 percent from the three-point line and 90 percent from the free throw line.  

 

This season, the junior is averaging a team-best 13.8 points per game, including 22 points per game in three league victories. She is also averaging 2.8 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game.

 

Drury (9-4, 3-0 GLVC) has won six of its last seven contests and is alone atop the GLVC West standings at 3-0. The Panthers will travel to UW-Parkside and Saint Joseph’s this weekend.

 

Other top performers in the GLVC last week included Bellarmine’s Taylor Kopple, Indianapolis’ Jessica Canary, Lewis’ Jenny Turpel, Northern Kentucky’s Jessie Slack, Quincy’s Jessica Keller, Rockhurst’s Julie Cook, Saint Joseph’s Erica Jiles, Southern Indiana’s Rinesha Soaper and UW-Parkside’s Amanda Gibson.
