University of Wisconsin-Parkside’s Amanda Gibson (Boulder Junction, Wis.) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week. The senior guard led the Rangers to wins over visiting Drury and Missouri S&T over the weekend, helping UW-Parkside extend its school-record winning streak to 10 games.
In UW-Parkside’s 75-72 win over Drury on Thursday, Gibson scored a game-high 23 points on 9-for-15 (.600) shooting while playing all 40 minutes for the Rangers. She finished with five rebounds, five assists and a steal and was also 2-for-5 from the three-point line and 3-for-4 from the free throw line.
She returned in Saturday’s 63-54 win over Missouri S&T to pour in 16 points and post nine assists, three steals and two rebounds. She was 5-for-12 from the field in the victory and converted six-of-eight free throw attempts.
On the week, Gibson averaged 19.5 points, 7.0 assists, 3.5 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game. She shot 51.8 percent from the field and 75 percent from the free throw line.
Gibson is leading the league in scoring this season at 18.8 points per game. She also ranks second in the league in assists with 4.93 per game.
Since opening the season 0-4, the Rangers (10-4) have posted 10 straight wins and are undefeated in the GLVC at 6-0. UW-Parkside sits one-half game ahead of top-ranked Northern Kentucky in the GLVC East Division standings. The Rangers will travel to Quincy and Lewis this weekend.
