Northern Kentucky University’s Dustin Maguire (Edwardsville, IL) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week. The sophomore guard led Norse to a pair of tough wins on the road this past week.
Maguire began the week with leading his team to victory over Rockhurst, 85-73. He put up 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds over the Hawks.
In the game against Drury, Maguire scored an impressive 30 points and grabbed six boards to top the Panthers, 91-86, in overtime. In the final 1:05 of regulation he hit a trio of three-pointers to force the game into overtime. He buried 7-of-13 from beyond the arc and had three assists on the game.
For the week, Maguire averaged 24 points per game and eight rebounds per game to lead his team to a two-game sweep on their league road trip.
Maguire averages 16.2 points per game overall and 15.1 points per game in the conference.
The Norse (12-4, 5-2) will host Missouri S&T and Quincy this week.
