McKendree University senior quarterback Reece Metcalf and Missouri S&T junior defensive end Tershawn Wharton and junior punter Jonathan Banowetz have been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Players of the Week in football, it was announced by the league office Monday.

Team Result: 27-16 win at Northwood

 

• Led the Miners with nine tackles, including four for a loss and 1.5 sacks in region road win
• Forced two fumbles, both of which were recovered by S&T
• First forced fumble came midway through the second quarter at the Northwood 24-yard line, which S&T turned into its third touchdown of the first half
• Second forced fumble came with the Timberwolves at the S&T 4-yard line; the sack/fumble was recovered by S&T to stop the scoring chance late in the first half
• Earns his second career Defensive Player of the Week award (10/30/17)
