Nathalia RiveraIndianapolis, Ind. – Rockhurst University’s Nathalia Rivera (San Juan, Puerto Rico, Colegio de La Merced) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Volleyball Player of the Week. The senior outside hitter guided the 18th-ranked Hawks to three wins last week, including two against GLVC opponents.
Rivera posted 17 kills and 18 digs in Rockhurst’s 3-0 (30-18, 30-26, 31-29) win over host Emporia State on Oct. 4. She finished with a hitting percentage of .316 in the contest and added a service ace and three blocks.
In Rockhurst’s 3-1 (30-32, 30-26, 30-12, 30-24) win over visiting University of Indianapolis on Oct. 6, Rivera collected 18 kills, 12 digs, four service aces and three blocks.
 
She finished the week with a 10-kill performance in the Hawks 3-0 (30-25, 30-27, 30-19) victory over visiting Saint Joseph’s College. In the win, Rivera also had 11 digs and two blocks.
 
For the week, Rivera averaged 4.50 kills and 4.10 digs per game. She also registered five service aces, eight blocks and four assists and finished with a hitting percentage of .304.
 
On the year, Rivera has posted 4.55 points per game and is ranked third in the GLVC in kills per game (3.86). She has a hitting percentage of .313 and has averaged 3.58 digs and 0.55 blocks per game.
 
The Hawks are currently riding a season-best 10-match winning streak and are 19-1 overall and 8-1 in the GLVC. Rockhurst has posted a games record of 59-6.
 
Rockhurst returns to action at No. 11 Central Missouri on Oct. 10.
