University of Indianapolis’ Travis Kempton (Beech Grove, Ind.) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week.
Kempton, a senior pitcher for the Greyhounds, played a key role in the team’s two wins over the weekend. He collected a win in UIndy’s 4-3 decision over Arkansas Tech and picked up a save in the Greyhounds’ 4-1 win over Northwest Missouri State.
Against Arkansas Tech, Kempton went three strong innings to earn the decision. He allowed just two hits and struck out five in the three scoreless innings.
He returned on Sunday to pick up the save against Northwest Missouri State. Kempton struck out the side in the one-inning outing.
On the week, Kemption threw four shutout innings, struck out eight hitters and allowed just two hits.
He is 1-1 on the year with a save in three appearances. Kempton sports a 1.93 ERA and has surrendered one earned run and has nine strikeouts in four and two-thirds innings.
UIndy is 5-3 overall on the year and will next host Hillsdale in a doubleheader on Saturday.
