Lewis University’s Julie Wingerter (Channahon, Ill.) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week.

 

Wingerter, a senior pitcher for the Flyers, guided her club to a pair of victories in Florida over the weekend.

 

In two games, Wingerter threw 12 innings and did not allow an earned run. She went seven innings in Lewis’ 2-1 win over New York Institute of Technology on Friday and allowed just three hits and one unearned run. Wingerter struck out eight and walked four in the victory.

 

She returned on Sunday to toss a no-hit shutout in five innings against Wilmington. Wingerter struck out seven in the 8-0 win to complete an impressive weekend of work.

 

On the year, Wingerter is 3-2 with 39 strikeouts in 31 and two-thirds innings of work. She has allowed just 11 earned runs in seven appearances and boasts a 2.43 ERA.

 

Lewis is 12-7 overall this season and will next face Lake Superior State and Mount Olive in the Rebel Spring Games in Kissimmee, Florida on Wednesday.
