Lewis University’s Courtney Lyons (San Pedro, Calif.) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Softball Player of the Week.

 

Lyons, a standout pitcher for the Flyers, earned Player of the Week honors after shining at the plate over the past week.

 

In five games, Lyons was 7-for-14 (.500) at the plate with five RBIS, three runs scored and a home run.

 

She went 2-for-2 with a run scored in Lewis’ 3-2 win over NYIT on Friday and finished the weekend with a 3-for-5 effort with two RBIs and two runs in the Flyers’ 8-6 win over Shippensburg.

 

Lyons, who was also 2-0 in the circle on the weekend, is hitting .360 with seven RBIS and three runs on the season. She is also 3-3 with a 2.54 ERA as a pitcher this year.

 

Lewis is 12-7 overall this season and will next face Lake Superior State and Mount Olive in the Rebel Spring Games in Kissimmee, Florida on Wednesday.

 

Other top performers in GLVC last week included Rockhurst’s Kristen Benes.
