Northern Kentucky University’s Jack Ambrose (Lexington, Ky.) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week.
Ambrose, a senior outfielder for the Norse, has earned player-of-the-week honors for the second consecutive week following an outstanding effort in two series last week.
On the week, Ambrose batted .680 (17-25) with 17 RBIs, eight runs and five home runs in six games.
He helped NKU split with Tiffin on Friday by going 4-for-7 with four RBIs, two runs and a home run.
Ambrose was doubly impressive in his team’s four-game sweep at West Georgia on Saturday and Sunday. He was 13-for-18 (.722) with 13 RBIs, six runs and four home runs in the four contests.
He recorded at least four RBIs in three of the wins and scored at least once in each of the games. In addition, in NKU’s 14-2 series-opening win, Ambrose belted two home runs and in Sunday’s doubleheader, he was 7-for-11 with 8 RBIs and two home runs. He provided a game-winning grand slam in NKU’s 6-4 win on Sunday.
This season, Ambrose is batting .510 with 22 RBIs and five home runs. He sports a .857 slugging percentage and currently maintains a 12-game hitting streak.
Ambrose was also named a Collegiate Baseball News “Louisville Slugger” National Player of the Week on Monday.
NKU (8-5) has won five straight games and will visit Truman State and Drury this week.
Other top performers in GLVC last week included Drury’s Joe Rohlfing, Indianapolis’ Casey Potter, Missouri-St. Louis’ Phil Widel and Southern Indiana’s Alex Thieroff.
