Drury University’s Zane Montgomery (Ozark, Mo.) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week.
Montgomery, a senior closer for the Panthers, shut the door in each of his team’s four wins against conference-foe Northern Kentucky over the weekend, recording four saves in the four contests.
On the weekend, Montgomery threw four innings, struck out six and allowed just one hit and one walk. He did not surrender a single run in the closer role to earn the four saves.
In Friday’s 4-2 win, Montgomery went one and one-third innings, struck out two and allowed one walk.
He appeared in both wins on Saturday and allowed just one hit in one and two-thirds innings of work.
Finally, he posted his fourth save of the weekend on Sunday in the Panthers’ 11-8 win. Despite hitting two batters, Montgomery struck out the side in the ninth to secure the win.
On the season, Montgomery is 0-2 with five saves and a 7.99 ERA. He has appeared in nine games and made four starts this season.
Drury (12-8) will visit Central Missouri and Southern Indiana this week.
