Quincy University’s Torie Bunzell (Utica, Ill.) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week.

 

Bunzell, a sophomore pitcher for the Lady Hawks, guided her squad to a 6-4 record last week, including a 3-1 mark in GLVC action.

 

On the week, Bunzell was 5-1 with a 0.68 ERA. She threw 40 innings, striking out 61 and allowing just 17 hits. She recorded five complete games and three shutouts on the week.

 

Included in her top performances on the week was a three-hit shutout in Quincy’s 3-0 win over St. Rose on Thursday. She struck out 13 and walked just one in the victory.

 

Bunzell recorded all three wins in the Lady Hawks’ opening weekend of conference play. She tossed a two-hit shutout and struck out 14 batters in Quincy’s 4-0 win over Bellarmine on Saturday and collected both wins over Northern Kentucky on Sunday.

 

In Quincy’s 2-1 win over the Norse, Bunzell allowed just two hits and struck out six in five innings of work. She threw a complete-game, three-hit shutout in the Lady Hawks’ 3-0 win over the Norse on Sunday. In the win, she struck out ten.

 

This season, Bunzell is 7-5 with a 1.91 ERA. She has struck out 118 batters in 80 innings of work and has four shutouts to her credit.

 

Quincy (9-13) is 3-1 in the GLVC and will next face Truman State on Wednesday before traveling to the Missouri Western Tournament over the weekend.

  

Other top performers in GLVC last week included Indianapolis’ Megan Gutierrez, Lewis’  Courtney Lyons, Missouri-St. Louis’ Allyson DeFosset, Rockhurst’s Emily Dye, Saint Joseph’s Sara Somogyi and UW-Parkside’s Kallie Walczak.
