Quincy University’s Royce Duncan (Beason, Ill.) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week.
Duncan, a sophomore hurler for the Hawks, helped his club split a key divisional series at Rockhurst over the weekend.
He went the distance in Saturday’s second game to deliver for the Hawks a 7-0 victory. Duncan notched the shutout by scattering five hits and striking out four. He surrendered just one walk to earn his third win of the season.
On the year, Duncan is 3-2 with a 2.59 ERA. He has allowed just nine earned runs in 31 and one-third innings of work while striking out 23. Duncan has allowed just six extra base hits on the season and opponents are sporting a .252 batting average.
Quincy (12-11) is tied for second in the GLVC West Division Standings with a 2-2 mark. The Hawks will host Robert Morris and Missouri S&T this week.
Other top performers in GLVC last week included Indianapolis’ Andrew Werner, Lewis’ Joe Scumaci, Northern Kentucky’s Sean Munninghoff and Southern Indiana’s Tyler Choate.
