Rockhurst University’s Hannah Lazenby (Joplin, Mo.) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women’s Tennis Player of the Week. The senior posted a 3-0 record at No. 3 singles and a 2-1 record at No. 2 doubles on the week
Rockhurst defeated Quincy on Friday, 7-2, with Lazenby notching victories at No. 3 singles and No. 2 doubles. She defeated Quincy’s Michelle Bertelsman, 6-2, 6-2, and teamed with Caitlin Buckley to defeat Bertelsman and Megan Marsot, 8-0.
Lazenby returned on Saturday to play a key role in the Hawks’ 7-2 win over conference-foe Missouri-St. Louis. She again won at No. 3 singles, defeating Leticia Garcia, 6-3, 6-0. Lazenby and Buckley also toppled UMSL’s Altanzul Gombo and Katie Feldman, 8-0, at No. 2 doubles.
On the year, Lazenby is 7-4 in singles play and 8-3 in doubles action. The Hawks are currently 6-5 overall and are tied atop the GLVC standings at 2-0. Rockhurst is ranked 10th in the ITA Midwest Regional poll.
Lazenby and the Hawks will return to action at Bellarmine and Kentucky Wesleyan this week.
Other top performers in the GLVC last week included Lewis’ Jordan Lynde.
