INDIANAPOLIS – University of Indianapolis’ Cory White (South Fulton, Tenn.) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week.

 

White, a junior pitcher for the Greyhounds, guided his club to a 3-1 win over Lewis in the first game of a doubleheader sweep against the Flyers on Saturday.

 

In the win, White went all seven innings in the win and struck out 15 batters, a single-game record by a UIndy pitcher. He allowed just two hits and one earned run in the contest.

 

White allowed the Flyers to hit just .083 in the game and lowered his ERA on the year to 1.44. He is now 4-0 and leads the league in ERA and strikeouts per game (12.24). In six appearances this season, White has struck out 34 batters and allowed just four earned runs.

 

UIndy (21-10) went 3-1 in the weekend series with the Flyers and 5-1 on the week. The Greyhounds are tied for second in the GLVC East Division with a 3-1 divisional mark and will travel to Tiffin and Kentucky Wesleyan this week.

  

Other top performers in GLVC last week included Bellarmine’s  Michael Thompson, Lewis’ Joe Scumaci, Missouri S&T’s Andrew Page, Rockhurst’s Jeremy Pope, Saint Joseph’s Gord Gateman, Southern Indiana’s Tyler Choate and UW-Parkside’s Nic Larson.
