University of Indianapolis junior distance specialist Lauren Bailey and Southwest Baptist University junior pentathlete Meleah Ridenour have been named the season’s first Great Lakes Valley Conference Athletes of the Week in women’s indoor track and field, it was announced by the league office Wednesday. 

WOMEN’S INDOOR TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Lauren Bailey, Indianapolis
Jr., Distance, Westfield, Indiana
Major: Public Health Education & Promotion
Team Result: No Team Scoring, GVSU Holiday Open

• Finished second in the 5,000 meters with a time of 16 minutes, 17.7 seconds
• Time was 13 seconds faster than the NCAA Division II automatic qualifying standard
• Lowered her indoor school record by 38 seconds
• Currently ranked first in the GLVC and second in NCAA Division II
• Earns fourth career Indoor Track Athlete of the Week award (1/30/18, 1/22/19, 2/13/19)
