University of Missouri-St. Louis’ Andi Dimke (Nuremberg, Germany) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week. Dimke, a junior for the Tritons, posted a 5-0 record at No. 1 singles and a 5-0 record at No. 1 doubles last week.
In singles action, Dimke posted a 6-3, 6-3 win over Alabama-Huntsville’s Adres Bures on Monday and followed that up with a 7-5, 6-3 win over West Alabama’s James Gardner on Tuesday.
Dimke squared off with 15th-ranked Daniel Usieto from Northwest Missouri State on Thursday and won the tough matchup, 4-6, 6-4, 6-4.
He also collected wins at No. 1 singles in two GLVC matches last week. He defeated Northern Kentucky’s Ignacio Ortiz, 6-2, 6-2 on Friday and finished the week with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Indianapolis’ J.D. Greenlee.
In doubles action, Dimke was equally impressive with teammate Daniel Anthony. He and Anthony defeated Alabama-Huntsville’s Bures and Daniel Canellas, 9-7, and picked up a 9-7 win at No. 1 doubles against West Alabama.
The duo also took home an 8-5 win over the fourth-ranked doubles team of Usieto and Vijit Sehgal of Northwest Missouri State.
In league play, Dimke and Anthony posted No. 1 doubles victories over Northern Kentucky’s Ortiz and Fritz Dlabik, 8-6, and over Indianapolis’ Greenlee and Matt Smith, 8-4.
On the year, Dimke is 16-2 overall in singles play and 8-1 at No. 1 singles. He has also posted a 9-4 mark in doubles play including a perfect 5-0 record at No. 1 doubles with Anthony.
Dimke and UMSL (0-9) will face Maryville, Southern Indiana and Truman State this week.
Other top performers in the GLVC last week included Drury’s Antonio Garcia-Santos, Indianapolis’ Jonathan Hack, Lewis’ Uno Lapimaa, Northern Kentucky’s Ricardo Weaver, Rockhurst’s Ben Newell and Southern Indiana’s Ben Hamm.
