University of Southern Indiana’s Shaun Larsen (Tell City, Ind.) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week.
Larsen, a senior reliever for the Eagles, posted four saves in helping his club to a 7-0 record last week.
On the week, Larsen made four appearances and in five and two-third innings allowed just two hits and no runs.
He went one and one-third innings in Southern Indiana’s 10-7 win at Missouri-St. Louis on Monday. He struck out two and allowed one hit and one walk in the appearance.
Larsen returned on Wednesday to deliver two saves in the Eagles’ sweep over Northern Kentucky. He went one and one-third hitless innings in the opener and shut the door in the Eagles’ 5-3 win in the nightcap by going two hitless innings.
Larsen closed his week with a one-inning, two-strikeout save in Southern Indiana’s 3-1 win at Lewis in the first game of a doubleheader on Saturday.
On the year, Larsen is 3-2 with 11 saves. He has posted a 2.62 ERA and has struck out 23 batters in 24 innings this season.
Southern Indiana (25-8) is tied for first-place in the GLVC West Division at 6-2 and has won eight of its last nine games. The Eagles will travel to Bellarmine for a non-conference game on Tuesday before hosting a four-game series with GLVC West co-leader Rockhurst this weekend.
Other top performers in GLVC last week included Drury’s Zane Montgomery, Indianapolis’ Cory Rupert, Missouri S&T’s Brandon Cogan, Northern Kentucky’s Jarrett Casey, Rockhurst’s Jeremy Pope and Saint Joseph’s Shane Zegarac.
